Where to go from Kmeaw 3.55..? (should I bother)

I inherited the PS3 with this cfw installed & have never had any problems with it.
I have about 60 Psn & 10 or so PS3 games installed, I appreciate that I will need to update if I wish to play some of the newer PSN games (Zen Pinball 2 etc) but am a little nervous that the procedure (or my ineptitude) will screw up everything I currently have installed.
I've read a few threads, but am not really confident with the process (first time) as it seems rather convoluted, there also seems to be much difference of opinion as to which cfw is the best.
There's also the re-signing..? of the PSN games (does this also apply to the PS3 games I launch via Multiman) which seems rather tricky.

I'd appreciate people's feedback
