This morning after I woke up I decided to record my PS3's temperatures for the first 10 minutes immediately after turning on the console and leaving it idle.

MINUTES (° Farenheit)
1. CPU 129°, RSX 109°
2. cpu 150, RSX 131
3. CPU 159, RSX 140
4. CPU 163, RSX 143
5. CPU 165, RSX 145
6. CPU 165, RSX 147
7. CPU 163, RSX 145
8. CPU 161, RSX 145
9. CPU 159, RSX 140
9. CPU 159, RSX 141
10.CPU 159°, RSX 140°

So: after 10 minutes of being left idle the temperatures increased from 129° & 109° to 159° & 140°.

MINUTES (° Celcius)
1. CPU 53.9°, RSX 42.8°
2. cpu 65.6, RSX 55
3. CPU 70.6, RSX 60
4. CPU 72.8, RSX 61.7
5. CPU 73.9, RSX 62.8
6. CPU 73.9, RSX 63.9
7. CPU 72.8, RSX 62.8
8. CPU 71.7, RSX 62.8
9. CPU 70.6, RSX 60
9. CPU 70.6, RSX 60.6
10.CPU 70.6°, RSX 60°

So: after 10 minutes of being left idle the temperatures increased from 53.9° & 42.8° to 70.6° & 60°.

Last night, after playing Dead Space 3 for about six hours straight, my temperatures were as follow:

CPU 154° F (67.8° C)
RSX 136° F (57.8° C)

I have a PS3 fat from 2007 (probably has the 19-blade fan); I didn't play much from 2007 - 2013; have never opened the console (i.e. to reflow or reball). I'm thinking of adding a fan mod to prevent future YLOD.

I know that after the fan mod is installed the temps drop to high 30's Celcius (half of my current temps!) so I'll definitely order the fan mod soon.

But based on how little I've actually played on my console since I bought it, my console should last me at least two more years w/o the fan mod (I'll still buy it soon though).

Any comments?
