Can't start Far Cry 3 (1.05 Reloaded) ..?

I've patched the game with the patch incl in the crack, overwritten the game files with the crack, but when I click on story nothing happens.. the game doesn't load (I've left if for over 1 hour)
The game is running according to Windows Task Manager, but I can't select anything on the menu screen and have to ctrl/alt/delete to exit.

Anybody got any ideas what I'm doing wrong..?
