ok, i've read some posts regarding users being banned from psn and some claim they were banned for no reason.
as for me, i've been playing online for quite sometime (actually since last year) and have not been banned even when I used multiman after signing into psn.
I've went to the psn store multiple times, no problem.
so I've concluded a list of possiblities why some people got banned.
1. It could be you signed in to multiman or any other backup managers (while logged into psn) and strangers in your friend list saw that you are playing multiman (Im not sure if they can actually see from the friend list in xmb). they be an a$$hole and report you to sony.
2. you play black ops 2 online <---- banhammer stay away. lol or maybe bf3 online (?) (I dk I hate fps games on consoles so I don't play them)
3. you hacked your trophies and sync them like for example, instant platinum! someone sees it (could be a stranger from your friend list) and read #1 lol (If its just one trophy it should be ok if its multiple trophies I think sony will know.)
4. you watched Netflix. (I think this is unlikely)
5. you downloaded something from the psn store. (also unlikely)
6. Sony is strictly monitoring US and UK psn accounts. (I'm just guessing coz my main acc is neither from the US nor UK region maybe someone can prove this wrong).
7. you played the latest games online.
anyone knows any other possiblities, feel free to add to the list.
These are just my guesses.
