Removingl the XMB icons I never use..?

Or am ever likely to.. sure I'm not the only one here, the main culprits are the Singstar, Netflix, LoveFilm & My Channels icons but I'd also like to remove things like: Photo Gallery, Music Unlimited, What's New, Remote Play & The Playstation Store.. is it possible? & if so can someone take me through the process or know of a link that gives a tutorial.

I did follow a guide for removing Singstar & it worked (briefly!) but now it's back again?
